Colonel, Scotch ancestry, settled in the Great Cove before the Revolution.
An orderly sergeant in the Revolutionary War. Served as a state legislator
in 1794. Dined by invitation with Pres. Washington. Appointed justice of the
peace and colonel of the militia by Governor Mifflin. A Federalist.
